Talladega, Alabama - Pixel 8 Pro Travel Photography - and a Health Update

A few months back I made a blog post about the degrading condition of my back and the effect it has on my ability to do travel photography. I finally have a plan in place to address some of it. In late January 2025, I will be having surgery to fuse a few vertebrae in my lower back. I’ll be in the hospital for a few days afterward, and a couple months of recover time at home. This will be my third back surgery, and hopefully it will provide me with as much relief as the previous two did.

In the mean time, I’ve been experimenting ways to do travel photography with minimal gear, and even testing out using a cell phone camera exclusively to cut down greatly on carrying the extra weight of full size camera gear and accessories. It’s been working well, such as during the couple hours I had between appointments in Birmingham, Alabama last month. Keep a look out for a blog post that I’ll be making soon about this subject.

This brings me to my most recent mini “travel” adventure. I had some business in Talladega, Alabama one morning, and nothing pressing to do for the remainder of the day, so I decided to walk around town for a few hours and do some photography on my Google Pixel 8 Pro. Below is a sampling of my favorite images from this set. You can view the full gallery of over 100 images here. Thanks for looking!
